Is a damn fine choice. ![]() The TV series is set to begin filming in the next few weeks, with the lead characters played by Teresa Palmer ( Warm Bodies, I Am Number Four, Hacksaw Ridge) and Matthew Goode of Downton Abbey. I’ve also heard it referred to as “Twilight for the tweedy set” which you KNOW the fans didn’t appreciate. When Diana discovers a long lost manuscript with a magical history, they are hunted by witches, vampires, and daemons alike who want to get their hands on the book. Lalala, I can’t hear your treason anymore!įor those of you that aren’t familiar with the series, A Discovery of Witches follows historian Diana Bishop, the last of the Bishop witches descended from Bridget Bishop, who was hanged in the Salem Witch Trials, and Matthew Clairmont, a 1,500-year-old vampire scientist/geneticist/literal Renaissance Man. And with the 24-hour news cycle right now being a nuclear dumpster fire of awfulness full of fear and uncertainty, it was with open arms that I welcomed the news that the main characters had been cast in the TV adaption of one of my favorite books, A Discovery of Witches. It isn’t clear if Season 2 will follow that pattern.I don’t know about you, but whenever there is buzz about one of my favorite books or series, all other news goes dim for me and I get laser-focused on that particular piece of information. While Season 1 debuted on streaming services Shudder and Sundance Now in January, it eventually aired on both AMC and BBC America a few months later. Season 2 still doesn’t have a release date, and it isn’t confirmed where it will air in the U.S. Elsewhere, the pregnant Sophie (Aisling Loftus) gets protection from Miriam (Aiysha Hart) and Marcus (Edward Bluemel) while Gerbert (Trevor Eve), Knox (Owen Teale), Satu (Malin Buska) and Domenico (Gregg Chillin) hunt down Matthew and Diana.Īs book readers have already guessed, Season 2 will follow the second novel in the Deborah Harkness-penned series, “Shadow of Night.” The series has already been renewed for Season 3 as well, guaranteeing that fans will get to the satisfying conclusion of the trilogy.įans will have to wait to see it, though. She falls in love with Matthew, a vampire, and they realize that she must hone her powers to track down the book and protect those who are in danger. Her life is changed after accidentally finding the mysterious Book of Life. “A Discovery of Witches” follows Diana (Teresa Palmer), a witch who ignores her powers. Congratulations to you too mate! I didn’t know you could finally grow a beard!!!
